Extra-Murals & Sport at Holy Cross Sisters’ School

At Holy Cross Sisters’ School, we believe in developing the whole child: mind, body and spirit. Our Sport and Extra-Mural Programme plays a vital role in school life, giving learners the chance to build skills, grow in confidence and enjoy enriching experiences outside the classroom.

Programme Overview

Our 2026 Sport and Extra-Mural Programme commenced during the week of Monday, 26 January 2026.

School sport runs from Term 1 to Term 4.

Summer Sport takes place in Term 1 and Term 4.
Learners can choose from athletics, cricket or tennis.

Winter Sport takes place in Term 2 and Term 3.
Learners can choose between netball and football.

In the event of insufficient interest in any sport, the activity may be cancelled. Affected learners will be notified and allowed to choose an alternative.

Sport Fees

Each sport is priced at R1 000 per season, covering two terms. This may be paid as a single lump sum or in two instalments.

Summer Sport: R500 is payable by 26 January 2026, with the final payment due by the end of Term 1.

Winter Sport: R500 is payable by 13 April 2026, with the final payment due by 27 July 2026.

Proof of payment must be sent to sport@holycross.co.za.

School-Based Sports, Grades 1–7

Sports in Adverse Weather

On rainy days, activities will continue in an adapted format, such as fitness boot camps in the hall or theory lessons with coaches in classrooms. Parents are kindly asked to avoid collecting learners early on these days.

Arts, Choir & Music

Senior Choir, Grades 4–7

Senior Choir runs from Term 1 to Term 4.

Choir sessions are held on Mondays and Fridays and will not conflict with sport activities.

Accepted members must register and pay an R500 annual fee. Existing choir members are exempt from auditions.

Art and Drawing Club

Art and Drawing Club runs from Term 1 to Term 4, with an annual fee of R1 000.

Registration is limited to:

  • The first 15 learners in Grades 1–2

  • The first 15 learners in Grades 3–4

  • The first 25 learners in Grades 4–7

E-Sports, Grades 4–7

E-Sports runs from Term 1 to Term 4 and takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 14:30 to 15:30 in the IT Lab, under the supervision of Mr Teladia.

An annual fee of R1 000 applies, payable at R500 by 26 January 2026 and the final payment by 27 July 2026.

Registration is limited and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Private Music Lessons

Through our collaboration with Wetrain Music, private piano, guitar and drum lessons will be offered. Registration is necessary, as the programme will only proceed if there is sufficient interest.

External Extra-Murals, Grades R–7

These activities take place on campus but are managed by independent service providers. Fees and sign-ups are handled directly through the providers.

Forms for external provider activities are available at the school and will be issued upon request.

Dress Code for Sport

Summer: Maroon sleeveless vest or white golf shirt with the school badge, blue shorts and white takkies.

Winter: School tracksuit with either a maroon vest, short-sleeve white golfer or long-sleeve white golfer.

Long-sleeve golfers are available at the school for R200. Other sportswear can be purchased from Campus Lifestyle, open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 15:30.
